Yet another food scandal has hit China. In addition to the usual list of ingredients like milk, oil, lamb, chicken and water, last month in Guangzhou rice was found to contain cadmium. The news of the new scandal is that pidan (皮蛋), or century eggs (preserved duck egges) have been discovered to be made improperly using toxic chemicals in the city of Nanchang, Jiangxi province in which industrial copper sulphate was used to speed up production.
